How do you maintain a consistent yoga routine over the years?
To cultivate a consistent yoga practice, I strongly suggest making a firm commitment at the outset. Continually deliberating each day about attending a yoga class might lead to self-doubt or hesitation. For instance, when you are snug in bed thinking about whether to come to class, motivation may wane, making it harder to get out of bed. Instead, once you understand the incredible advantages that yoga offers and firmly commit to yourself, entering a state of mental clarity where decisions are pre-determined. By making the commitment, you will find yourself effortlessly embracing the routine. There is no longer a need to deliberate because the decision has already been made. This mindset enabled me to practice Hot Yoga consistently, maintaining a schedule of 3- 4 times a day in the early years, and then 5-6 classes a week for over four decades. The key is to establish a mental framework where attending yoga becomes as instinctive as any essential routine in your life. Once you integrate this commitment into your mindset, attending classes becomes a natural, unquestioned part of your daily or weekly rhythm. This approach minimizes the opportunity for doubt or excuses to interfere with your practice, fostering a more consistent and fulfilling journey in yoga!
